'Oraalppokkam' (Six Feet High, 2014), his debut feature-length movie produced by Kazhcha won him the Kerala State Film Award for the Best Director. His second film 'Ozhivudivasathe Kali' (An Off-Day Game, 2015) was awarded as the Best Feature Film. Both the films received the FIPRESCI awards in the International Film Festival of Kerala. Sanal’s third film 'S Durga' (2017) was premiered in the competition section of the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR 2017). The film won the Hivos Tiger award and received wide critical acclaim. His fourth feature is 'Unmadiyude Maranam' (Death of Insane).
